What Is Wrong With Jehovah’s Witnesses?

In this session, Jehovah Witnesses (JW) are brought to the table. The followers of this cult do not believe in the doctrine that Jesus is God, or the Holy Spirit is God. Therefore, we can witness to them even using their New World Translation Bible, so that it can convince them even their version supports our Bible Believing Doctrines and Truths.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Jehovah Witnesses argue that a spirit is not a person, but rather some energy or force.

Our rebuttal towards that is that one cannot worship God unless we recognize him as a spirit. Hence regardless of what Jehovah Witnesses do spiritually or physically as an effort of worshiping God, their effort is in vain.

Hebrews 3:7-12 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

As written in the scripture, Paul recognized the great Jehovah God to be the Holy Spirit.

In contrast, JW only believes or acknowledges that God/Lord in the Old Testament as Jehovah which is referring to our Heavenly Father, but they deny that the Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost as God (The Holy Trinity). Nonetheless, in Hebrews 3, Apostle Paul mentioned that God, in the form of Holy Ghost, was speaking.

Psalms 95:7-11 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

To witness to Jehovah Witnesses, we simply ask them if they believe that Jehovah is the Spirit; and reprove them with these verses from the real Bible, the King James Bible and you can also find these verses in their modern version, the New World Translation.

Acts 22:18-19 And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me. And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:

This is similar to Acts 21 where the Holy Spirit forbade Paul to go to Jerusalem because he would be arrested and imprisoned. Paul addressed the Holy Spirit that spoke to him as The Lord.

The following two chapters’ verses match with one another, that emphasizes the Godhead, there’s a Trinity of Heavenly Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and they are all the same God.

  • Isaiah 6:8-9 cross-referenced with (cf.) Acts 28:25-26

He is the First and The Last

Isaiah 44:6 cf. Revelation 1: 17-18

Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

This again proves that Jesus is Jehovah God. He is the first and the last. The death and resurrection is referring to the Son, Christ Jesus, not the Father Himself. But Jesus also described Himself as having the same authority as our Heavenly Father.

The Jehovah Witnesses may argue that there are two separate ‘First and Last’, and not to mix up Jehovah’s and Jesus’s ‘First and Last’. They refer to Jehovah’s as the genuine ‘First and Last’, and Jesus as firstborn of God’s creation. Hence we can debunk them with these verses

Revelation 1:7-8 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Revelation 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

Revelation 1 provides plenty of references to Jesus’s presence that He was always there, there was no beginning for him, and it’s blasphemous if the Jehovah Witnesses make such absurd claim that Jesus is not God.

The LORD is referring to the Heavenly Father and Christ Jesus

Philippians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

According to Lord mentioned in Philippians 2, the JW may again argue that it is referring to a different Lord or context.

Ephesians 4:4-5 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

It is all referring to the same LORD. Also, remember that these verses are all found in the NWT as well.

Both God and Christ Jesus are pierced

Zechariah 12:10 cf. John 19:33-35

Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

The Father was pierced, so was Jesus Christ .

Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Jesus Christ absolutely refused the idea of receiving worship if he’s not being acknowledged as God. Jesus had a strong belief that we should worship nobody else but God. Why would Jesus accept Thomas’s statement and confirm it if Jesus is not God?

There’s only One Savior

Titus 3:6 cf. Isaiah 43:11

Titus 3:6 He poured this spirit out richly on us through Jesus Christ our Savior, (NWT)

Isaiah 43:11 I—I am Jehovah,+ and besides me there is no savior.” (NWT)

The Father is referred to as the Savior, so is Christ Jesus.

There is no other Savior as proclaimed by the one true God. Hence even if a JW try to disagree with that statement, and assume that they are two different saviors, and it is referring to two different contexts, this would raise a huge hypocrisy in themselves.
